39thieves:

painted my himchan dunny finally. i decided to skip his arm tattoos for now until i can find a good reference for them. maybe i’ll get lucky and more matoki images / animations will be released. ;; that’d be nice.

here’s a photo of him with a quarter for scale. painting serif letters that small is really painful. ;;

WELP GUESS I CAN FINISH UP ALL MY MATOKI DUNNYS NOWasldkjflajg;homg

wip. finally drew youngjae since i thought his new hair would make him like 94857825 times easier to draw
attempted painting from a screenshot as ref. which resulted in something that doesn’t look like him at all except for his hair so i gave up. i’ll come back to it when i’m not frustrated with it.

“39 Thieves” - Aesop Rock (feat. El-P)

a post not related to b.a.p! SHOCKING—

this song is the origin of my username. clever, intelligent hip hop is my greatest musical weakness. i wonder if yonggukkie would like aesop rock, i think he would dig the social commentary in aes’ lyrics. ;;

next time think
39 thieves are quicker than 40 winks
raise your drinks
39 thieves are quicker than 40 winks

we’re not concerned with the community aloofness
duke, we’re animals, we just go where the most food is
lower the toast, most formal etiquette is useless
truth is you’re equally expendable if spoonfed

money is cool, i’m only human
but they use it as a tool to make the workers feel excluded
like the shinier the jewel, the more exclusive the troop is
bullets don’t take bribes, stupid, they shoot shit
if it wasn’t for himchan’s endearing derpiness, this guy right here would be at the top of my bias list. ♥♥♥

thanks all you guys liking and reblogging that himchan dunny. ;; ♥♥ i’m glad people like it, it’s been a lot of fun learning how to make him.

i’ve gotten a few messages and stuff asking if i’ll make b.a.p dunnys for sale.

the short answer is: let me think about it.

the long answer is: long and after the text cut—

how u make the himchan dunny?

i collect dunnys and i had a few doubles, so i took one of them and wiped the paint off of it. then i sculpted the mask on with super sculpey, cured it by boiling it in hot water, and sanded it smooth. next i primed the vinyl with black gesso and sketched in the eyes and tattoos with a white watercolor pencil. once i had everything the way i wanted them, i painted over the watercolor pencil with white acrylic.

after i do his arm tattoos, i’m going to spray him with sealant so that he’s not shiny and won’t chip easily.

took a while. if you look at my dunny tag you can see my progress photos.

more himchan dunny progress. i meant to take a photo of him with a quarter or something to show the scale (he’s about three inches tall) but i forgot.
i lied before about painting his face and tattoos. ended up doing a ton of sanding instead and i should probably do more. sketched in his face and chest tattoo with a white watercolor pencil first for size and placement. glad i did because if i had gone straight in with paint i would have screwed up like everything. orz
he’s armless right now. i need to draw in his tattoos first but i can’t find a good reference for his arms. having a hard time using the ta-dah video clips for that. anyone able to help me out? i’ll need to simplify them anyway since dunny arms are super small, but i’d like to have something accurate to start with. thanks in advance, i super appreciate it. o/

updated himchan dunny progress. his mask has been sculpted and cured in boiling water and the vinyl’s been primed with black gesso again. painted in his mask with gesso too, the black bits are actually little divots filled in with paint. i’ll start painting his face and tattoos tomorrow.
dunny!yongguk’s mask is giving me hell, i can’t for the life of me figure out how to sculpt those things on nicely. so damn tiny.
next time i’ll use plain sculpey and spray primer, paint over the masks rather than use colored sculpey. i think that’ll save me a lot of headaches.
